you could stay forever

Date of Review:  Apr 18, 2005
The Bottom Line: -
Review: You know how sometimes you hear over and over again how exceptional an album is, and you put off buying it because you don't want to be disappointed, and when you finally do buy it, you find it's good, but it doesn't live up to the hype at all?...

Queens of the Stone Age: Paralyzed by Darkness, Beauty and Desire

Date of Review:  Apr 1, 2005
The Bottom Line: Queens of the Stone Age reminds me what rock and roll is really about. Lullabies to Paralyze is one of the most impressive rock albums of the last few years.
Review: Songs for the Deaf renewed my faith in rock n' roll. In 2002, the whole scene was well on its way to taking a permanent nose dive into oblivion. When all star outfit Queens of the Stone Age released their outstanding third album I was reminded of...

a long, slow hello: "lullabies to paralyze" is buried in my head

Date of Review:  Sep 25, 2005
The Bottom Line: -
Review: It's fairly apparent that most bands, when given any sort of positive attention from the mainstream music moguls (oooh, lovely alliteration there, and we've barely even started…), will adapt their sound in order to better suit the needs of their...

Paralyze This!

Date of Review:  Apr 23, 2005
The Bottom Line: Lullabies to Paralyze starts off as "album of the year" and ends in a whimper. 3.5 stars, rounded DOWN.
Review: Much like many non-hipsters, I latched onto the Queens of the Stone Age bandwagon a couple years back with the release of the band's breakthrough, Songs For the Deaf (which I still haven't reviewed, amazingly). That album took a while for me to...

You've Got a Killer Scene There, Queens.

Date of Review:  May 11, 2005
The Bottom Line: Don't stay paralyzed: Check out Queens Of The Stone Age.
Review: We've heard enough about the turmoil inside Queens of the Stone Age. All I want to talk about here is the music because after breakups, makeups, quittings, firings, whatever, the music is all we're left with. QOTSA's follow-up to their stellar 2002...

Lullabies To Paralyse: 'like a drug'

Date of Review:  Apr 24, 2005
The Bottom Line: I had to travel the length of my country to find time to review this.
Review: As I'm writing this I find myself sitting in a car driving almost the length of England (London to Manchester) to watch a football (soccer) match. I'm sure you can guess how utterly boring this is. Thankfully I happen to have bought with me the new...

Homme Sweet Homme

Date of Review:  May 4, 2005
The Bottom Line: This is a remarkably great album that shows the band at the apex of their creative peak and how fine a group they actually are.
Review: Queens of the Stone Age's albums not only have some of the finest and most powerful rock songs you are likely to hear this millennium, but they also have these huge, sweeping and cavernous rock epics that are both simultaneously hypnotising as they...

QOTSA's excellent lullabies won't paralyze

Date of Review:  Mar 20, 2005
The Bottom Line: Go out and buy it. Amazing follow up to their last album, and will get you looking for all their older CDS just so you can have more.
Review: After the last Queens of the Stone Age album "Songs for the Deaf", many people thought it would be hard to follow up with something as good, if not better than that CD. This CD does not dissapoint. Sure, you may be thinking Dave Grohl's absence on...

The Queens Attempt A Darker And More Mysterious Sound - With Somewhat Mixed Results

Date of Review:  Feb 26, 2007
The Bottom Line: When judged on its own merits, Lullabies To Paralyze is an amazing album. But when compared to previous QOTSA albums, it winds up leaving a little to be desired.
Review: Queens Of The Stone Age is the kind of band whose greatness stems largely from their simplicity. Their songs never show a great deal of technical wankery nor pompously poetic lyrics. They simply play classic no-nonsense rock and roll. Accessible but...

Melodies to Hypnotize

Date of Review:  Mar 29, 2005
The Bottom Line: It's not as Good as "Rated R" but Just as good as "Songs for the Deaf", being a catchy, wholly entertaining album. So, buy it, and stuff.
Review: (I'm too tired to think so let's pretend I just went on for six paragraphs in detail as to why I love Queens of the Stone age and this album is respectively just as good as their former release Songs for the Deaf and OK GO:)

Lullabies to...
