Lucky Catalog

I have been "reading" Lucky magazine for a couple years. I have a subscription now, which I got points that I earned on erewards. I am not much of a magazine person; I have never paid for a subscription. I can't remember exactly where I got my first Lucky, but I think it came for free with another magazine.

Fashion

These articles take up most of the magazine. When I say article, I mean a short blurb and pictures of clothes. I like the fact that they don't use models very much. Most of the clothes are laid out by themselves, or regular people. By "regular" I mean petite pretty girls that work in the fashion industry and not super skinny giantesses. But really the women are portrayed in clothes that they actually wear to work or around. There are a lot of "how to" articles, which I find helpful. There is one feature about four women and one clothing piece (like a shirt), showing how each person wears it.

Everything in this magazine has a price and weblink. It is difficult to trust that they are objective about their choices. There are a lot of advertisements for Luckyshops.com where you can buy many of the things in this magazine.

Beauty

There are four beauty articles in the January Issue compared to 13 fashion articles. So you can see that there is bigger emphasis on fashion. I don't find the information about beauty that helpful. They seem to tell what's hot new and popular, but not why. This is ok for clothes, I mean either you like what you see or not. Beauty products are chemical. You need more information on what it so great about the product, not what fashionista celebrity buys it.

Shopping

There are two features about Shopping (but really the whole magazine is about shopping). There is a lovely article about little known shopping websites. I love this stuff; this is really helpful to me.

Lucky Breaks

This refers to special discounts on items featured in the magazine. It seems that about half of the stores featured have a special promotion code that you can use at the manufacturers website or store.
