Lowrance Ifinder go2

When I first got the Ifinder go2 I was amazed at how much it offered for such a low price. After trying to actually use it in the woods, I guess the adage, "You get what you pay for" holds true.

This GPS has some great features for the price. The built in map has basic main highways and county roads, accurate representations of lakes, etc. My only complaint is that it had a rough time getting a satelite fix even on a clear day with a clear view of the sky. Even when it did manage to lock on to my location, it regularly lost my fix. On a slightly foggy or overcast day, it performed even worse.

I thought maybe I just had a bad unit, but my brothers was just as bad (we bought them together). We compared our performance to my brother in laws Garmin Etrex (their most basic model with no mapping) and his clearly outperformed ours. While our Ifinders were struggling to find satelites, and often locked on to 3 to 4 max, the Garmin Etrex easily snagged 6 or more, and with a much stronger signal.

I'm taking it back to the store I bought it from and will gladly spend the extra $50 or so for an etrex legend, or venture. For the amount of hunting and fishing I do, I can't take chances with such shaky performance.
