Author's Review
Love Songs, by David Sanborn, is a sensuous set of romantic instrumental jazz that will enhance any candle lit evening. Each sizzling track brings with it the unique and powerful horn blowing experience that is Sanborn's trademark. Every song in Love Songs will entice the listeners to delve deeply into the innermost places in their hearts. Each lovely song will draw you closer to the one you love by tantalizing that special place where lovers go when intimacy is desired.
I guarantee that if your evening starts off with the two of you sitting apart on the love seat, you will be cuddling on a rug in front of the fire by morning.
Yes, it is that hot.
The first track, All I Need is You, sets the mood with David blowing softly, yet passionately, with a samba like rhythm perfect for candlelight dinner conversation. The white sparkling cider, the sweet incensed candles and David Sanborn is surely the beginning of a passion filled evening.
Track two starts off softly, then Straight to the Heart hastens to a feverish pitch by the songs end. I love the cymbals and equal mix of background instruments faster paced and easy congas that make this song a lovers hit. Just minutes into this winner, the piano solo is intoxicating and remains consistently beautiful throughout the track. Close your eyes and allow David to sweep you off of your feet. The piano is what makes track two one of Love Songs special songs of this set. Blow David, blow!
One in A Million continues the succession of rapid fire samba rhythms while it remains passionate as David Sanborn begins to bring the listener into a realm of romance and passion. Each high note brings with it a higher crescendo of desire. It makes one want to get up and start swaying gently to the music. Youll forget about the dinner and want to hold your partner tightly to this love song.
Track four, Its You, is Davids rhythmic segue into the enchantment of desire and lust. Less than one minute into this winner, the piano solo is back, again intoxicating and deliciously captivating. This is what great contemporary instrumental jazz is all about! David blows the listener out of this world and into the fantastic land of intense yearning that he has meticulously been guiding you to all evening.
My favorite song of the entire track list of Love Songs sensuous songs is definitely track five, The Seduction. Sanborn offers the listener a duality of soft notes, enhanced by some powerfully heart wrenching notes delivered with precision and skill. The background vocals appear interspersed with Davids rock hard come closer to me very dominant notes. It should be clear at this point of the set that you are the apple of your lovers eye.
Well, now that the after dinner chocolate mints are melting in your mouth, Sanborn slows down the pace of Love Songs with tract six, Imogene. This track is perfect for some gentle finger touching, a few sly glances and intimate kissing. After dinner conversation is minimal as two sweethearts make progress in becoming more acquainted with each other and enjoying Sanborns sweet, sweet love songs.
The softness continues as track seven begins. As only David Sanborn can do it, the listener is surely lost in love. Sanborn keeps the mood deliriously sensual as he blows beautifully, powerfully, potently! If he doesnt know you at the beginning of track seven, he sure will be shouting out your name from every rooftop by songs end. You Dont Know Me is an engaging song that is only made even more beautiful by David Sanborns arrangement, soft guitar background solos and cuddlesque style of keeping couples closer! My second favorite of the entire compact disk is enhanced by the magnificent warm arrangement. This is a lovely rendition; the best that I have heard.
An old favorite is brought into the mix in track eight. David belts out a winning arrangement of You Are Everything as the romantic evening resounds with feverishly pitched orgasmic highs that will spin your head and keep the love fires burning. In track nine, Sanborn brings down the lights as the seduction continues. The walls are sweating now as I Do It for Your Love brings a joyful tear to the listeners eye. Love Songs would seem incomplete without the inclusion of this one.
As the lovers smile at one another in the after glow, David Sanborn lifts the mood a little in track ten, When You Smile at Me. This song has a unique mix of accompanying instruments that is indescribable. The base guitar adds to the fervent blowing of Sanborns sexy sax.

Songs eleven and twelve complete Love Songs and round out the sumptuous evening. Lisa is a very slow starting romantic song that brings some closure to one satisfying evening with David Sanborn. Lisa is that type of jazzy memorable tune that needs no words to explain what David is expressing. Its all about the love, baby. Can you feel it?
Finally, in my third favorite of this wonderful compact disc, The Water is Wide, Linda Rondstadt brings her vocal mastery to lend a voice to Sanborns last love song. The song is rich and deep. Linda sings of love with a solo piano accompaniment, at the start of the song. This is a very pretty song and Ms Rondstadts crisp lovely voice accompanies David Sanborns passionate horn, as he joins in. The slow paced song moves the listener to a heightened intensity as Love Songs comes to an end.
