Author's Review

Every now and then, I will have a nice long stemmed glass of wine. And most of the time when I drink wine it will be red. Out of all the red wines in the world, the one that my family usually drinks is Livingston Cellar's Red Burgundy. It is a quality wine with a sweet flavor. It has a refreshing taste that I have grown accustomed to love.

I remember one night when A friend and I went to this restaurant and the waiter asked me if I wanted anything to drink. I asked him for red wine that was sweet and since there was so much of variety to choose from, he brought out about ten different glasses of wine for me to taste and choose from. The sense of feel that you get in the mouth should have a finish on a ripe refreshing note. That day, the restaurant did not offer Livingston Cellar Red Burgundy, but I am wishing I had known of another choice then like I do now.

Beaujoulais-Villages is a fabulous wine made from gamay grapes. It is a refreshing wine that has a succulent taste and gentle tannins. Tannins can come from either the grape skin, seed or the barrel that the grapes have been aged in. Tannins are said to prevent the hardening of arteries which is probably why many people say it is beneficial to health to drink one glass of red wine a day. This wine is also red burgundy, is 750 ml and contains 12.5% alcohol.

Beaujolais is a produce of France. It is said to be the classic "bistro" wine of Paris. 39 villages produce wine classified as Beaujolais Villages. It bears the manufacturing certificate of the Appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC). It was originally founded in 1859. The bottle I have was manufactured by Louis Jadot in 2006 and imported by the Korbrand Corporation in NYC.

My initial thought upon tasting this wine was that it is dry. It differs in many ways from Livingston Cellar Red Burgundy which is sweet from the start. Beaujolais-Villages goes down smoothly and leaves a really good after taste in the mouth. It offers excellent depth and balance. It is a light-bodied red wine and an excellent choice of sophisticated drink. I like to drink mine with salad, pasta, chicken or fish dishes. It is good as a starter or as an after-dinner apperitif.

Beaujolais-Villages is made with gamay grapes. The gamay grapes give it a floral, fruity flavor. It is a strong wine that is easy to drink. The grapes are conventionally fermented. The wine is tasteful and low in tannins but naturally contains sulfites as do most wines.

I am pleased with this wine. It is dry but the fruity flavor that bursts into my mouth makes up for it. It is best served chilled. So the next time somebody offers you a cool drink, ask them if they have any Beaujolais-Villages. Enjoy the subtle harmony of this good wine; A taste that will keep you up on the good foot with a sparse melody.
