lost in blue 2 review
Date of Review: Nov 22, 2007
The Bottom Line: players who enjoy puzzle games, adventures and sim games will probably find this game more apealing than the adventure, shoot-em-up-rpg people.
i bought lost in blue 2 because of all the hype i had heard about it. many of my friends and other gaming review sites and shows, i decided to see for myself what kind of a game it really is. when i got back from the store and turned it on, i got the "cool" feeling you get from playing a ds game and seeing the top and bottom screens work together. (i get a rush anyway. =p) after starting a new game and such, a screen flashes to a ship in a storm. you being a boy or a girl get to already make your own decisions. i forgot exactly, but you may choose from opening a briefcase, looking on a table in your room, or some choice or another. i looked on the table and got nothing, but the fact that you can choose your own path in this game makes it quite fun. after a series of events, you end up on an island with a member of the opposite sex of which you chose. (ex: if you chose a boy, there would be a girl on the beach, and opposite for people who chose the girl main character.)on the island, the game starts out very slow, and to me seemed somewhat repetitive. everyday, you must get up and get food, cook it, eat it, make a fire, get water and still have time to explore this island that you have landed on. this got to be an annoyance to me, and i started neglecting my characters needs, which i soon found out to be a bad way to start. you have three bars above your playing screen, or the bottom screen. one for food, water and energy. when you land on the island, these start out at a hundred percent, but quickly start declining. these are you meters for what your character and your players partner need. after a while, as you explore more and more of the island, you come across things that can be made as tools. for example, close to your cave home, there is a straight stick that you can turn into a harpoon for catching fish. later on, you may add to this harpoon by putting a rock on it so you can go hunting for wild animals. i have not beaten this game, for it is quite beyond me to have to do all that day after day, but im sure many of you out there will find this a nice inovative and challenging adventure.
