Z-680 really is all it says, and then some...

The Bottom Line: The best system out there because of its quality and versatility.
So here is the gist. This is a very powerful system. It is definitely more focused on the bass. Mids and highs are in the 7 to 8 range on a 1-10 scale. Bass is unbeatably powerful and can hit the lows like a champ. Being a music lover, I think it could be going even lower, but what do you expect with a 8" woofer. I am so sick of hearing about a hiss from all the reviews I read prior to purchasing. I was actually worried for a while because I assumed most of the people who complained about it were smarter and had exhausted all options. Not the case. People, if you don't know what you're doing, get someone to help. Do yourself a favor, before you get this product, spend minimal money for a 5.1 DIGITAL sound card (I got the SBLive 5.1 Dolby for only $30), definitely buy yourself enough speaker wire to put these speaks in the proper position...the wire I would say is a requirement...it does come with some but there is no way I was going to use that crap on a high end system like this, especially over long distances. You should be safe with 16g wire but I got 14g, I want to make sure my speakers do what they were made to do. I have no hiss. Nothing other than normal on a nice speaker system. I honestly cannot hear it over the noise my darn computer makes. Stats..all the speakers look great and perform better than expected, connections on back of satellites are kind of cheap and if you get 14g wire, it will be a real tight fight in all the holes. Get some pins for the satellite speaker wire. Stands have no real versatility for mounting options but I think they will work great just hanging off the ceiling, they kind of angle down the way they came. The pod is HUGE and you're kind of left with the feeling 'what the heck am I going to do with THIS' but it serves as the brains and it does more than I thought it would do like mess with how much power goes to the sub, center and sat's. The volume control can be very touchy but I guess if you mess around enough with your computer sound in addition to the system, you will find your sweet spot. Woofer might be kind of over powering for instrumental music at high volumes where you don't want it, but again, use your computer controls and it will tame it. I have had this system up and running now for just over two hours. I don't regret it at all. I can't wait to show it off.
