Caveat: I write not as a computer literate person, rather Im one of the generation which saw the advent of computers, have learned to use one somewhat, have two kids and a nephew who have eaten the machines alive from childhood and I write for the audience much as am I: middle aged, school teacher types who have had to learn to use the machine without really knowing too much about them and not understanding everything said to or read by self.
I read many articles regarding computer components offered by those who are far more knowledgeable than I regarding the computer and its varied parts; I am sad to say, I dont always understand what it is I am reading. So, I will write for the reader who may also be a tad less versed in computer workings and will tell of my own experience with mouse, or keyboard or other component.

Computer mice I began using the first one when Son # 2 walked through the door, attached one to the computer and insisted it was time I begin learning to use it. As with everything computer, I resisted. To no avail.
I was quite comfortable typing and moving the little arrow buttons, but now, I would be lost without the mouse. Far and away this little Logitech Wheel Optical Mouse is the best I have used. I realize most computer folks go through one after another in that ongoing search for the perfect one.
I was never satisfied with the mice I used in the past, they were too big, didnt slide smoothly, did not fit my hand, until Son brought my Logitech Optical Mouse shown in the picture on the site.
This particular mouse feels as though it was just made for my hand, and that is important. I have small hands. And I have some arthritis in fingers. Many of the mice I used before were very uncomfortable for me to use. Those earlier mice were larger, heavier, and not shaped for my hand. I could not comfortably reach my palm and fingers across some of the other mice, or the mice were shaped more domed or wider than was comfortable for my hands. My Logitech Wheel Optical Mouse fits my hand very nicely and the feel of it in my hand is comfortable when I use it.

Reading about the Logitech Wheel Optical Mouse online I find this mouse to be A Logitech best-seller, I can see why, it is not expensive, it is comfortable to use. More than that it has been trouble free for well over two years. AND, I have been able to connect, and reconnect the mouse without problem, that may not seem important, but for those of us who are cyberpterodactyls; just getting things hooked up and responding is a major event.
Per the instruction manual with my Logitech Wheel Optical Mouse it is a high-precision mouse with a scroll wheel: this is a feature I do use and enjoy very much.
This mouse has an 800-dpi optical sensor for smooth motion on almost any surface. It moves easily without struggle, there is no ball to gather dust, or in my case cat hair. Maddelleine is a permanent fixture on the computer desk. Roller ball mice in the past were a pain in the neck to clean and were goners very quickly.
I use the mouse only in my right hand, however it is said to be for either hand.
It glides easily across almost any surface. Mine does exactly that, I do not have a problem with the mouse hanging up or not moving as I want it to do.
I use the scroll wheel feature a lot particularly when doing genealogy. Documents can be scrolled many times quickly trying to sort out which person is which on a census sheet, family group sheet or just a page filled information.
I like the appearance of the mouse, in particular: it is a nice size and shape for smaller hands. The color is blue if that is of importance to the buyer.
I have not found color to be much of an issue when trying to use mice, size and shape are much more important in my hand. For those who do look for color as well: This Logitech Mouse is blue and silver which makes for a visually attractive combination.
The red LED the optical sensor is handy. When lifted, or dropped, the light shows, I find the feature especially handy when Maddelleine has batted the mouse to the floor and I am searching for it. The red light does let me home in on the mouse quickly. I realize that is not the original purpose. The optical sensor allows the mouse to more readily home in on what direction to take.
I like that my Logitech Mouse is available in USB: I am able to plug and use. Windows XP found drivers for it and we were good to go without hassle. Using the USB port means my mouse works faster and more easily. I like that. It came with a standard USB jack, as well as a PS/2 adaptor. The adaptor is in the drawer. Son tells me the mouse is customizable from the computer control panel. That is something I do not yet feel confident to attempt.
In the past I have had problems with mice stalling, this has not been a problem with my Logitech Mouse.
I do not play games on line and have not a clue whether this mouse might be a good mouse to use for playing games.
I like that the mouse is optical which reading tells me means I do not have bother with the dratted roller ball.
I received an instruction sheet with my mouse which indicates a number of modifications can be performed, I am not yet confident enough to tackle any of that, but will keep the instructions and one day learn to use the mouse in a more efficient manner.
By accident I discovered when the wheel is depressed, an automatic scroll began, handy when doing genealogy research, I am anxious to learn what other functions there may be. But, am also a tad nervous to poke, push or whatever to activate some of those features. Ill wait a bit.
I am very happy with my Logitech Wheel Optical Mouse happy to recommend for cyberpterodactyls and for those who actually understand and know what they are about.

Reading about Logitech on line I learn: Since the 1990s, Logitech has made mice and keyboards directly for Apple Computer, HP, Dell Computer and others. The mass-marketed computer mouse was the product that made Logitech well-known. For a time during its formative years, Logitech's Silicon Valley offices were found on University Avenue, Palo Alto, California, which was home to a number of noted technology startups.
Logitech International S.A. was co-founded in Apples, Vaud, Switzerland, in 1981. Logitech International S.A. headquartered in Romanel-sur-Morges, Switzerland, is the holding company for Logitech Group which is an industry leader in the personal peripheral market. Logitech produces peripheral devices for PCs including keyboards, mice, and other devices. With U.S. offices in Fremont, California, as well as throughout Europe, Asia and the rest of Americas Logitech is a world entity.
