Author's Review
I remember the days when the mouse first came out and it was a big, heavy, and awkward looking device that wasn't very reliable. Since then, mice have become lighter, smoother, and more precise. But still, people have trouble with the ball bearing on the bottom that can get stuck with dirt, hair, etc. Or the other common problem is that the sensors for the ball can become loose or oxidized. Fortunately those problems are a thing of the past, thanks to the arrival of the Logitech Optical Wheel Mouse.
The "Wheel Mouse" by Logitech brings your mouse to the 21st Century and allows it to catch up to the technology of the rest of your computer. First of all it is optical, which means you no longer have to deal with clunky rubber balls that need regular cleaning. The mouse works by using infrared light signals to determine which direction you are moving it (Dont' worry, the light is safe for humans). Second, the mouse plugs in through a USB connection which is almost 40x faster that the standard PS/2 port that is commonly used in older mice (It comes with a USB-to-PS/2 converter in case you don't have USB connections). This allows it to have an instantaneous response time which means more precision. Third, the lack of a ball bearing allows the mouse to be much lighter than usual mice, which means your hand will not tire as easily allowing you to work longer without fear of carpal tunnel syndrome.
In addition to the above, the mouse comes with a very smooth scroll wheel, two reprogrammable buttons, and a very ergonomic design that looks elegant and feels great in your hands. To top that off, it comes with a 5-year limited warranty, not that you will probably need it. The software that comes with the mouse allows you to do several other modifications to the mouse so that it fits your requirements perfectly. The only problem with the mouse that I noticed is that occasionally the mouse pointer jumps when I use for really fast movements such as those while playing 3D games. But this is probably because my computer needs some more RAM since it is fairly slow. All in all the mouse is fantastic and for the price, a must buy.
