Good mouse, but still disappointing for a laser mouse
Pros:
Overall, could be good for 'average' person, and NICE buttons and feel.
Cons:
Responsiveness was disappointing for a laser mouse
The Bottom Line:
I would rather pay another $10-20 for something a little more precise/responsive. It was disappointing, for a USB-laser mouse.

This is a good/solid mouse, for right-handed people. Initial responsiveness was good, and it glided like silk on a mousepad.
However, after some use, I noticed the laser-tracking jumped around quite a bit on some mousepads and surfaces (even MORE than my old OPTICAL!!!). Also, the responsiveness was not as good as my OLD optical Logitech... which was surprisingly disappointing.
I was looking for a mouse to replace my several-year-old Logitech Optical Mouse USB (which was a GREAT basic/simple mouse with wheel and 2 buttons... but the left-click & wheel were starting to die).
I found this at the local electronics store for ~$40 US, and decided to try it as my first Laser mouse. I had high expectations compared to the old Logitech.
However, when I tried it, I initially liked the almost-instantaneous setup in Windows XP. Drivers are not required, but the Logitech drivers are nice and simple.
The MX 400 buttons are QUITE nice, and probably the best part. The back/forward-page buttons (near the thumb) and the wheel-based left/right-scroll are intuitive and easy... without being confusing to the touch.
NOTE: all the buttons can be reconfigured for different functions
I called Logitech support, and they basically said that the MX 400 was a relatively "low-end" tracking system compared to some of the high-end Laser mice.
So, overall the mouse is good... but it was below my high-expectations... since I was expecting the corded-USB Laser to be far-superior to my 'old' Logitech USB optical.
