Could be better - But I'll take it

Depending if you have internet access and think that spending multiple hours programming electronics is a fun afternoon or not will mostly determine if you like this product or not. I think Logitech might have accidentally disappointed some customers with this one. luckily for me, I do think remote programming is a fun afternoon. Just don't buy this if you don't.

I was able to get it to function well. Expect some trouble with the "Activities" concept. Some AV components do not accept a "power on" and a "power off" command, only a "power toggle" command. This creates issues as the remote is never quite sure if these devices are already turned on or not. If it gets something wrong you hit "HELP" on the remote and it responds by sending any "toggle" commands and asks "Did that fix the problem?" on the LCD display, which it usually does.

The remote is not a solid as I would like it to be. The two plastic shells squeak when the unit is torqued. I like being able to program the soft key's label, placement and functionality, even if that first part can cause even more issues;

WIFE - "Why is satellite spelled wrong on here". Uggg.

After spending an afternoon programming it, it is nice to know that you can just hook another one to your computer and be up a running quick if it was to fail. Something that Logitech seems to be showing off, as many people on their support forum seem to get a replacement unit for the smallest of defects. They don't even have to send the original unit back as Logitech can lock the defective unit out on the internet - Maybe a good reason to buy used 520s (or any Harmony) only from trusted sources.

It became annoying hitting the back-light button every time I picked up my old remote. I wanted a unit that would activate the back-light whenever it was moved, but that feature was too expensive. I was surprised that this unit does have a sort a motion sensing. It reactivates the unit (and the back light) if the remote has not been moved for 2 hours and you pick it up. Hmmm, why would they not allow users to program it so it would light up anytime you pick it up?
