Some Music Should Be Mandatory Listening!!!

by   wolfman309 ,  Sep 4, 2000
Pros: Three CD's of pure magic
Cons: We are going to have to wait for part II
Review: Few artist can put out a three CD live set and the major complaint you hear is that it does not have enough of his music! That is the case with Springsteen's Live/1975-85. This collection encompasses the glory years of America's premier...

Close your eyes and you're there!

by   lauren_m ,  Jun 28, 2000
Pros: 40 songs, great sound, all the hits!
Cons: Wishing for an updated version featuring songs after '85
Review: I'm reviewing this boxed set after spending last night at the Springsteen concert in New York City. Even though I've owned this for years, the quality of the songs and the selection never cease to please me; right now I'm marvelling at how energetic the...

Live 1975-1985: Tales from the Long Road

by   m001 ,  Apr 10, 2000
Pros: Filled with Gems, both Major and Minor; Great for Diehards and Newcomers
Cons: Could Have Used a Few More Quiet, Intimate Moments (But The Ones that Are Here are Amazing)
Review: Live 1975-1985 is as adequate a summary of ten years of Bruce Springsteen's touring career as you'd expect, sequenced with care and organized to pack quite an emotional whallop. Opening with as gorgeous a solo rendition of 'Thunder Road' as he has...

The Legend that Exceeds the Hype

by   tdswift89 ,  Jun 5, 2000
Pros: Brings out the essence of Bruce's Greatest work, and proves why he's Boss
Cons: "Nebraska" wasn't meant for a stadium (Hey, they make you write a con!)
Review: Bruce is probably the only musician who can achieve small club intimacy with an arena sized audience. This box set was released in the height of Springsteen's popularity following the "Born in The USA" album. I can remember seeing people...

Bruce Springsteen... live! So good I bought it twice!

by   knotheadusc ,  Mar 2, 2009
Pros: 40 great songs... hits and rarities, all performed live.
Cons: I think maybe it's time for remastering.
The Bottom Line:

Really more like 4.5 stars... I love all the songs, just wish they were remastered.

Review: In 1986, I was fourteen years old and in the 9th grade. It's so hard to believe that was over 22 years ago; how time flies when you're getting old. I don't even remember particularly liking Bruce Springsteen that much back then. I think I was ...

Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda: This Could Have Been a Heckuva Lot Better.

by   buffoonery ,  Sep 12, 2000
Pros: Driving performances, some unusual stuff
Cons: Too many glaring omissions and missed opportunities
The Bottom Line: Although a nice package, this collection misses some important tunes and performances from Bruce's earlier days. Too bad.
Review: For me, live albums exist largely as a way to add something to the music not heard on the studio version, and secondarily as a nostalgia trip. I have no interest in their third purpose, which is as a greatest hits collection. The Allman Brothers ...
