Wonderful, Touching Performances Make This One A Winner!!

I never saw the movie until I bought it. I happen to be a huge Winona Ryder fan, so I just knew it would be good!! Her performance in the part of Jo won my heart right away. This movie is so much more, though!! Its loaded with an arsenal of great actors, Susan Sarandon, Claire Danes, Trini Alvarado, Eric Stoltz, and Christian Bale. Its also beautifully shot, and the costuming and hairstyles are right on for the time period this movie is set in (Civil War). Trini Alvarado is stunning as the reserved and proper Meg, Claire Danes is heartbraking as sickly, homebody Beth, and Amy, played by Kirsten Dunst, is cute and adds great childish conflicts and funny lines to the script. Christian Bale is perfect for the sweet, open-minded part of Teddy Laurence. But Winona Ryder's Jo and Susan Sarandon's Marmee really seal off the film, making it whole and wonderful to watch. I have no real complaints about this film, except I think this version's characters have more liberal opinions and ideas than other ones, and I'm sure its just so the film fits easier into modern times. I think this is the best version done yet, and would recommend this one first and foremost. I think that young girls and women would fall in love with this wonderfully acted and emotional movie.
