Simple, Elegant, and Powerful
Pros:
Ease of use, menus, remote control, front panel controls.
Cons:
None so far. If I have to nit-pick, there is no HDMI connection.
The Bottom Line:
Absolutely the best component for converting VHS to DVD.

Author's Review
This is simply the best, easiest to use DVD recorder I have ever used. The controls are completely intuitive, and the menus are SUPERB. I never even had to read the user manual for this machine, and I've successfully burned a dozen or so disks.
My primary reason for purchasing the Lite-On LVC-9016G is to convert my VHS collection to DVD. So far, the unit has been flawless. It detects any blank DVD automatically (DVD-R or DVD+R). There are two ways to convert VHS tapes to DVD. Either you press the "VHS->DVD" on the front panel, or press "COPY" on the remote. It's just that damn simple! I've converted home movies, commercial tapes, pay-per-view specials, all without a hitch. No coasters here!
I also own a similar machine made by JVC -- which is horrible. This Lite-On machine is LIGHT YEARS ahead in terms of ease-of-use, reliability, and overall quality. I of course had reservations purchasing an "off" brand such as Lite-On, but no more. I'll almost certainly never buy a JVC product again, but I can't wait to add to my Lite-On components.
Features I'd like to see in the future: High-speed dubbing, integrated DVR hard drive with program guide.
