Author's Review

Well I bought this WRT54GR brand new, got it for my brand new Dell E1705 laptop with a Dell 1500 Wireless Draft N in it (I would of bought an N router from the start but I got this for cheap) and this router is a nightmare. On a wired connection, its great, 10.5mbps as it should be. On a wireless connection I get a max of around 3000kbps which is unacceptable. It seems like there is some kind of cap.. like its impossible for it hit 3100. I then bought a WRT300N router, wireless performance is great at the 105000kbps on a wireless connection, but that is too unstable and drops too often. So looks like i'm out of luck...This router is extremely slow on wireless, great on wired, un-maintained firmware (linksys has never released an update for it) and they never will. Linksys usually uses Broadcom chipset's (like they do with the WRT54G and the WRT54GS,GL but not on the GR.
