Linksys Wireless-G WAP54G Welcome to the World of Near High Speed Wireless

by   vemartin , top reviewer in Computer Hardware at Epinions.com ,  Jun 16, 2003
Pros: Ability to interoperate at 11Mbps & 54Mbps.
Cons: None to speak of, yet, stay tuned.
The Bottom Line: The Linksys Wireless-G WAP54G represents the best of both worlds; it can meet your need for current 802.11b standards, but still has the flexibility to expand beyond to 54Mbps.
Review: My successful (and experimental) odyssey into the world of wireless networking continues. So far I ...

Works very well, almost all the time

by   lovehifi ,  Jan 23, 2007
Pros: Excellent reception. Easy to install.
Cons: May not configure to older wireless card protocols. Suggest upgrade to wireless 'G' card.
The Bottom Line: Great connection. Excellent range. High speed. Can run multiple notebooks/desktop at same time without problems. Nothing bad to say.
Review: I previously had a desktop PC and my son had a notebook. The desktop was hard wired, the notebook wireless, via a Belkin wireless 'B' router. I recently upgraded to new notebook PCs, eliminating the desktop. I also purchased the Linksys wireless 'G' ...

Linksys WAP54G Not just an Access point!

by   adrinef ,  Jun 14, 2006
Pros: Multiple Uses, Client, Bridge, Repeater, Site Survey Tool
Cons: Might be confusing to someone not familiar with it.
The Bottom Line: A great buy if you need something to go that last little bit and a regular network card won't cut it. Also great to bridge two distant networks.
Review: The Linksys WAP54G works great as an access point if you already have a router on your network. Within minutes you can make a wired network wireless giving mobile users the ability to roam around as they please. But what people don't realize about the ...

Installed in about 10 minutes

by   salm10 ,  Mar 6, 2005
Pros: Inexpensive and flawless installation
Cons: None so far.
Review: Worked right out of the box using the install wizard. That took about 2 minutes, then I set up the security which took a few more minutes. I'm new to wireless so I didn't what to expect. If I knew it was this easy, I would have done it a year ago. ...

Linksys Wireless-G Access Point WAP54G.

by   sponginn ,  Jan 16, 2004
Pros: I CAN SURF ANYWHERE - LOVE IT. Great Customer 24hr. Service
Cons: Drops Connection :-(
The Bottom Line: Works good usually, randomly drops connection, probably due conflicting electronics in house. When it's working, I'm one happy camper; I'm still trying to narrow the dropped connections reasoning.
Review: Purchased for use with a new IBM Thinkpad laptop with an integrated B card. I know.....I am planning on upgrading to a G card, but the notebook came with it integrated so I'm still using it. But on the point.... Setup.... fairly ...
