Incredibly Low-Priced Phone Service with Adequate Quality

by   orion522 ,  Jun 12, 2007
Pros: Cost-per-call, no connection fees, battery life, loads of features!
Cons: Phone Price, Requires a PC, cannot use multiple handsets on one base.
The Bottom Line: For the price, you can't beat the features of this phone. Yahoo Phone Out may not be as popular or well-known as Skype, but the pricing is MUCH better.
Review: I have used both Skype and Yahoo voice-over-IP (VoIP) service and even though I believe Skype has a leg-up on quality of service, Yahoo definitely wins in the overall cost area. Yahoo Voice Brief Overview I found that Yahoo's "Phone Out" ...

Very Good Phone, But Only Real Geeks Need Apply At This Point

by   craigbenting ,  Jun 4, 2007
Pros: Easy-to-use, Skype without a computer, great voicemail access, excellent audio quality
Cons: Early product with difficulties; phone doesn't come with necessary cable for updates, very few ring-tones
The Bottom Line: Great cutting-edge VoIP WiFi phone for so many reasons, but I'd only recommend it to technical people who don't mind dealing with firmware updates and missing cables.
Review: I really have found all the negative user reviews about the WIP320 to be funny considering almost all of them were from "early adopters", AKA people who bought this gadget "as soon as it was available". 90% of these people have to have known what they ...

Great idea - with room for practical improvements

by   pablo_lie ,  Aug 27, 2007
Pros: Skype as your home phone, appealing design
Cons: Setup at first challenging - Linksys expects quite a bit from users!
The Bottom Line: I'd get it again - even after the initial setup struggles. It is an appealing product.
Review: Some reviews already exist, so I'll be brief and to the point. If you're not technology literate and expect things to work out of the box, stay away from this. Really - it's not plug_and_play. If you like to fiddle and take pride in having next gen ...

Too Cool until it gets too warm

by   familyde4 ,  Jun 12, 2007
Pros: Nice UI (User interface), call clarity surprisingly good. From work to home almost effortlessly.
Cons: Gets hot. Weird ergonomics on the phone. Range weak.
Review: This technology has come a long way, but still has a long way to go. While it is one of the coolest gadgets that I have played with in some time, the phone is too valuable a tool to compromise functionality. I agree with the person that made the first ...
