Weird problems

The Bottom Line: Great for home use but maybe not at the workplace.
Review: I only had one strange problem with this router at a customer site in Mississippi...it would intermittenly crash! There was nothing to explain why this was happening. My suspicion was always that the DSL provider had already provided a modem/router...

I trusted it ... but lately it let me down.

The Bottom Line: You may get lucky, or you may not.
Review: Had mine since about 2004 ....  now is the end of 2009  .... so that makes it about 5y old.

Over the years I believed in this unit and trusted it .... even when wierd things started happening on the link to the WAN last year,  I kept blaming...

We named our BEFSR81 "Linky".

The Bottom Line: This router will do exactly what you need at a good price. Reliability and quality is questionable though.
Review: The Linksys BEFSRR81 Cable/DSL Router is a great idea. Basically, when you have a cable modem or DSL connection...you can only have 1 IP address. This means only one computer can be connected to the Internet at one time.

Very easy to set up and start surfing!

Review: This router only took a few minutes to install and configure. I was pleasantly surprised. The in-tool network manager took only a few seconds to figure out, and then it was ready to go.

avoid this router if you can. go with any other brand. don't waste your money.
