Lexmark 6170
Pros:
multi-function capacity, good for a small business
Cons:
Printing program runs pages together, copies come out very light and fuzzy
The Bottom Line:
I would not buy this machine if I had the chance to do it over, printing each page individually is a nightmare

Author's Review
I bought the Lexmark 6170 to replace an HP Photo printer, I still can't decide if it is a step up or not. Just a to provide a little usage history, I own a small Resume Service and I felt that I needed a printer made more for actually printing than for photos; I also felt that having a fax machine, copier, and scanner would be a bonus for the business.
The Lexmark was easy to install, computer wise, for someone like me who is not a computer genius. The machine itself is not as huge as a full size copier but does take up a fair amount of desk space.
The printer is not very fast, but is efficient and good quality for a small business or home. It does, however, make the loudest, most horrible screeching noise if it runs out of paper. I have not been able to pinpoint the cause, whether it be programming or the machine itself, but I cannot print more than one page of a multi-page document because the pages begin to run together and the entire top portions of pages will be missing. I usually have to print each page by itself.
The copy function works ok. The copies come out light and I would never copy more than a few copies of something on this machine.
The fax machine works well, but only prints reports in the case of error. The only way to know your fax went through is check for an error report.
The scanner function has been excellent and the quality of the photos scanned is good.
