First is the fact that it does not come with a black print cartridge. You will have to buy a black cartridge, and here's the first thing to be careful about. If you plan or refilling your black cartridge, DO NOT buy the Black 28 cartridge, it cannot be refilled. If you're refilling, you need a 28A, or a high yield 34.

Second thing to consider is if you do refill cartridges, you will have to jump through some hoops when printing. You will get error messages and will have to do some clicking on continue.......to continue. It will take a few tries for you to figure out how to get your refilled cartridge to work. If you refill your original 28A or 34 before they get too low, you will have less hassles with the printer recognizing the cartridge.

The third thing to bear in mind is that this is not a printer to be used for even moderately heavy use. I had two units I was using and both developed major problems with repeated carriage stalls relatively soon after purchase.

For the occasional letter or school report, this is a great printer provided you can deal with its limitations .
