Lexmark X2500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Horrendous product. I bought it because it was on sale and I thought I was getting a good deal. Boy have I paid for it! The ink is very expensive and runs out at the drop of a hat. I have even reduced the amount of ink that I use by changing the print quality to lower quality to conserve ink. Even doing this I seem to buy a new cartridge every time I blink.

I might have been willing to ignore the constant purchase of expensive ink had it not been for the inconvenience of using this printer. Every time the ink runs out, either color or blank, the printer DEMANDS (and I do mean demands- you can't opt out of doing it) that you do an alignment page print out. Then you have to scan the print out. This process not only takes a ton of time, but it also wastes even more of the expensive ink. In my opinion, it's just another way Lexmark is scamming people out of money. It makes me mad that the printer WILL NOT print until you have gone through this absurd process.

A national consumer expert says that printer companies make no money off the purchase of the printer; its all off the purchase of ink by the consumer. I have tried to have these cartridges refilled at local and national refiller stores, but Lexmark currently has a lawsuit out on the store barring them from refilling the cartridge for this particular printer (Lexmark 29 Color and 28 Black).

Read the previous post regarding the spyware- scary stuff. I have no proof that Lexmark does this, but I will say that strange website pages have been popping up on my computer ever since I got the printer.

I would stay away. Spend the extra money and get a nicer printer (a better name brand) and save on ink for years to come. This printer is an annoyance and the ink for it will be a major expense down the road.
