All in One, is not at all a Versatile Printer

This printer will function well with Windows XP. However, when I upgraded to VISTA the Operating System would not recognize the drivers. An attempt was made to download the proper drivers but with a Dial UP connection this proved fruitless. The VISTA driver is located in a program file that is over 40-megabytes in size. I have downloaded other files larger but the Lexmark download would not function properly, even with special downloading tools. Lexmark’s support page is difficult to use for me, and I'm a computer tech. A friend of mine just purchased a brand new computer with VISTA and he could not install his Lexmark X1270 printer either. He has a DSL connection so he downloaded the VISTA driver without any trouble. He then followed the instructions that came with the software, and still the PC won't recognize his printer. He wanted some help from me, but considering I can't install my own printer it looks like we're both out of luck. I realize this portion is off the topic, but I would also steer away from US Robotics modems with VISTA. Their reply to my request for updated drivers was that I was out of luck, and they were unconcerned.
