Holy Grail of Foundations
Date of Review: Nov 29, 2006
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this product without hesitation to anyone!!! It provides great coverage and makes you look wonderful!
I started using Laura Mercier years ago when a saleswoman and a makeup artist suckered me into receiving a free makeover. I look back on that now and feel glad that they did! I tend to try and lot of products from a lot of different lines, but Laura's products are my staples that I cannot live without. Before using Laura's foundation, I had tried a lot of others: Clinique, Estee Lauder, MAC, Origins, Prescriptives, Trish McEvoy, Clarins...to name a few. I have bought other foundations since Laura, always in my (foolish) quest to see if there could be something better out there. After trying Bobbi Brown, Paula Dorf, Benefit, Stila, Shiseido, Shu Uemura, Vincent Longo, Makeup Forever...I can honestly say that Laura's foundation is the best (with MAC and Bobbi Brown also offering some good secondary alternatives).
I use the Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation in either Warm Ivory (fall/winter) and Sunny Beige (summer when I self-tan). Laura's foundation colors are perfect for my skintone (yellow undertones) but I know lots of people who have pink undertones who also happen to feel the same way.
In terms of pigmentation, I find this foundation to be highly pigmented so you need to remember that a little goes a loooong way. I like this because this means that the product will last you a bit longer than your other foundation. Another plus is that you can control your coverage with this product....light coverage one day or more coverage for those days/nights when your skin needs some extra help.
I use Laura's primer for oil-free skin prior to my application. The combo of the primer and my moisturizer really helps the foundation look its best. I blend my foundation with a foundation brush. I really like that when you use this foundation, it will appear as if you have naturally *great* skin. I can honestly say that no other foundation has made me feel this way.
I love Laura's Oil Free Foundation and feel that it gives you the most for your money ($40.00). It goes on nicely, provides as much or as little coverage as you would like, and helps your skin appear almost perfect!
