Lasko model 1128 4.5 Gallon

I have had this humidifier for about a year now. I bought this unit to add humidity to my 4800 sqft home. I have an on furnace humidifier (Carrier Infinity series) but I want the humidity to be maintained while the furnace was off. Here is what I have found:
Good:
The fan, whether on 1, 2 or 3 is not overly loud. Though it doesn't seem to change all that much between the three. The jug is very easy to install and remove and the fill hole has a self sealing cap so you don't have to worry about it getting screwed in correctly like some other units. The filter is very easy to replace and doesn't cost very much, something like $8.00 or so at the hardware store.
Bad:
The capacity of the humidifier is listed as 9.0 gallons. The water capacity of the unit is 4.5 gallons. So to get the 9.0 gallon utility, you have to fill the unit quite often
When the 1128 has reached it's set humidity level it will cycle partially on, partially off over and over again. This gets VERY annoying. It isn't that the fan is coming on full speed (one of the three you set anyway) it is that the switch that controls the humidity doesn't fully open or close so the unit cycles partially on (bzzzz, bzzzz, bzzzz) and partially off.
My 1128 lasted 1 year before it died. Since it is out of the warranty period I can't see any remedy other than replacing it. I felt that for the $80.00 or so that I paid for it the unit would have lasted longer.
I will not choose this model again.
