The Lasko Tower Fan --- A Great Fan with multiple speeds and Ionizer

When my parents began packing up their old house in the process of moving, they had an extra one of their Lasko Tower Fans that they offered to give to me. I am always very accepting of new and interesting products, and needing a good quality fan for my new place, I was well in the mood to take this gift. This Lasko fan stands quite tall and 42 inches in height, with the other dimensions measuring 8 x 9 inches. You could say it is a monster of a fan, with a weight of 15.5 pounds. That right there proves to you that it is going to be sturdy, and the supportive base and the bottom of the fan insures that it won't be going anywhere unless you decide to move it yourself. Lasko produces many different versions of their tower fans, and this one has a "wind-curve" feature to move the air around, along with the built in ionizer with which to clear out the air.

Looking at it from the front, it is an appealing piece of technology, with this one being silverish on the front folds, and having grayish siding. There are many vertical slits that run from the base to the top, and which help to push the air around in your home. On the back of the fan, are horizontal slits that pull the air in, and force it through the internal blades, thus creating a nice breeze for anyone using it. Again by just looking at it, you are immediately convinced that this could be a really good fan, but results have to speak for themselves, rather than just being sold on the aesthetics of this machine. Control of the fan exists in two different fashions with easy buttons on the top of the device, and a handheld remote that can be used from across the room. When the remote is not being used, you can place it in a little slot on the back of the fan designed as its storage.

The Lasko has several different options when it comes to use, starting primarily with the different speeds with which you can set it. You have the first speed, which is a relatively light breeze, that gets air moving around the room, but which doesn't cause any type of a disturbance. As you move up to the second speed, you start to see what the fan can really do, as you will be able to blow paper and loose articles around the room. The third speed is really nice, and its presence can really help move the air around like no other fan I have had. That final speed tends to be too powerful for a lot of occasions, and if it is facing the dinner table, you could have a lot of flying napkins around the house. However, if you are living in a well-insulated place with few windows (like this one), and you lack air conditioning, getting something powerful to blow cool air around the house becomes a necessity. This fan is one of those solutions that I will jump for joy at having.

With all of the different speeds, you have the option to use the oscillation feature, which rotates the fan 180 degrees back and forth around the room. This is nice if you want to spread the air around, and helps to really move the air around quickly if you have it on a higher speed. While in use, the fan can also be used as an ionizer, which will help clear up the air that is taken into the fan. If for instance, you have burnt something on the stove or have cooked something with a strong odor, you can use the ionizer on this one to destroy those smells. A great example is burnt popcorn (which I admit to being a victim many times), by utilizing the ionizing function, you can destroy the smell before it pollutes the whole house. The final big selling point for the fan, is that there are various setting you can use to have as a timer for how long the fan stays on. Using 1/2 hr, 1 hr, 2 hr, and 4 hr time-limits, you can set the timer for up to 7.5 hours of use.

I think this is the best fan I have ever owned, and I can tell you I have owned a few of them up to this point. This was definitely a gift that I am appreciating, and it has been put to use many times since I got it about 6 months ago. It doesn't have filters that need to be changed, and as long as you dust it every now and then, will remain pretty clean for your use. The ionizer, the variable speeds, and the ability to electronically set a timer on use are all great selling features of this fan. Combine those features with the powerful modes, the nice little remote, and the great aesthetic feel of the fan, and you can see why I really love this Lasko fan. Regarding the sound it gives off, it is much quieter than most fans, and just seems like a wind coming through the fan when it is in action. That is quiet enough for me, and means that I can even use it while sleeping without being disturbed. The fan sells for around $70.00 normally, and I think it is well worth the price. It has a lot of great features which make it a nice fan to have, and I give it a high recommendation as a result.
