Product Review

Rocks in my head

by   ruckerlady ,   Jan 14, 2000

Pros:  Color photography, Jewelry resources

Cons:  Some lightweight issues not worth buying

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

You don't have to be a rock hound to enjoy the beauty of Lapidary Journal Magazine. Each issue is a keepsake with rich photography and illustrations. There are articles which demonstrate jewelry making projects from beginner to advanced, information on stones, and historical perspectives on jewelry from ancient cultures.

For the jewelry enthusiast, there are lots of adds for bead and jewelry findings companies. Monthly they highlight talented jewelry artists and show photos of their work.

One of my concerns is about the artists they highlight. I have seen articles on the same jewelry artists several times over. While they are quite good, it would be nice to give others a chance.

Also I am very selective on which issues I purchase. Some issues are so skimpy they are not worth purchasing. I only buy the issues I can see myself referring to over and over again.
