Land Before Time-Values So Needed Now

In this time of uncertainty and turmoil, any movie that teaches children tolerance and learning to live together is a must-see. If only we could all find that Great Valley and turn back time to an America before that awful time (9/11).

Land Before Time is a video that show we can all learn to get along and cooperate with one another. The characters model friendship, courage, and a beauty in cultural diversity.

Plot

Because of an earthquake, the dinosaurs need to find the Great Valley, the land of green food. Little Foot and some of the young dinosaurs become lost and separated from the group. Sharp Tooth kills Little Foot’s mother (long necks). Little Foot must find his way to the Green Valley. Along the way he meets Cera (a 3 horn), Ducky, Spike, and Petri. Cera’s father has taught her to be prejudice. He tells her 3 horns never play with long necks because they are different. Cera also thinks she needs no one and can find her way alone. As they face dangers such as volcanoes and Tyrannosaurus Rex, they learn to cooperate. They learn differences can be a good thing.

Land Before Time was created by the same people that created “An American Tail”. I loved the antics of the characters, and my favorite is Ducky mainly because I love the way my granddaughter repeats her lines. This animated film was released in 1988 and is rated G. It is approximately 70 minutes long.
