A trek on Friendship

The Land Before Time starts off when many dinosaur herd are headed for the Great Valley. It illustrates one take on what happened to the dinosaurs, and that is the take on earthquakes and changing of the land.

We meet Littlefoot, Cera, Spike, Ducky and Pitre as they are all on their own way to the lush landscape of the Great Velley. They soon join up together. Littlefoot's mother dies, leaving him to search for his Grandparents and the GV alone. Cera's family was split up when the earth split. Ducky's story is similar. Spike is from a family that just leaves their eggs wherever they feel like and he hatches alone. Pitre was also separated from his family. We can only assume all of Spikes family was killed, as when they reach the Great Valley, he is adopted by Ducky's family.

The youngsters have to face many obstacles on their journey, including Cera's pride, dangerous Sharpteeth, getting lost and self-doubt. Littlefoot serves as guide, since he is the only one who was told the way to the Great Valley. Cera thinks she is tougher, and therefore knows best where the group should go. Since she chooses the easier route, all except Littlefoot follow her. The dinosaurs finally end up in the Great Valley, knowing that none of them would have made it if they hadn't worked together.

This movie illustrates the need to work together, and also the need for good friends who have the same goals. Children love this movie, and it has a good moral. I would recommend this to anyone, with or without kids.
