It's Hot

by   happy40 ,  Oct 6, 2000
Pros: Nice and warm
Cons: Nice and expensive!
Review: I used this Lakewood Portable Heater last year and have to say that is a very good product. I have a drafty window in my room so this portable heater came in very handy last year during the long, cold winter. It is an electric heater so it must be...

...And I'll Be Taking This One Back...

by   Najusa ,  Oct 22, 2002
Pros: Updated, sleek appearance, with automatic shut-off safety feature. Probably adequate for a smaller room.
Cons: Does not heat as well as the Lakewood 7096, which costs only $5.00 more.
The Bottom Line: For a very small room, this might be an adequate heater. However, I would suggest purchasing the superior model, which is the Radiator-style Lakewood.
Review: A couple of years ago, I reviewed the Lakewood Radiator Heater 7096 (here on Epinions) and stated that if I needed another space heater, that is the kind I would buy. So, why didn't I? Well, I have to admit that when I went to Walmart to buy another...

Bad design

by   frolag ,  Nov 4, 2002
Pros: Easy to use, hot.
Cons: Thermostat doesn't maintain constant room temperature, unit not completely silent.
The Bottom Line: Buy a different model! Only buy this model if you plan to use it as an on/off heater and don't mind hearing soft metallic noises.
Review: Lakewood claims 50 years of experience, but they made a beginner's mistake on this model: The thermostat is placed next to the heating element, so it is greatly influenced by the heater itself. The thermostat cannot know the current room temperature and...

NOT A TRUE OIL-FILLED HEATER - fire retardants very toxic - too small for 1500W

by   nontoxicusa ,  Jan 1, 2008
Pros: none
Cons: Toxic fire retardant, sometimes undetectable. Insidiously marketed as "oil-filled heater."
The Bottom Line: Would not recommend to anyone. A toxic, unsafe heater, and insidiously named "oil-filled heater" when it is not. I have completely lost faith in Lakewood, another American tragedy.
Review: Loss: $65 After looking at very high priced stand-alone oil-filled baseboards on the web (like Fahrenheat, Q-Mark, Cadet,) I bought this at my local hardware store. I feel like a fool for even buying this thing. I thought there was a possibility ...

I agree - the heater is too noisy

by   peterdams ,  Dec 15, 2005
Pros: Heats well; low-profile
Cons: Annoying sounds when warming up/cooling off; no indicator light showing heat is on
The Bottom Line: I would not buy the heater because of the noise and lack of a heat-on indicator light.
Review: I bought the heater for its low profile and didn't think the noise described in the other review would bother me. But after a few days it did. The noise occurs when the heater comes on and shuts off. It is not a continuous sound, but more the ...

Don't buy this junk

by   kblv ,  Dec 10, 2006
Pros: Rapid heating of small rooms.
Cons: Unreliable and not cost-effective.
Review: Had this for one winter season and it worked like a champ, several hours a day, everyday. Used in a smallish den/computer room area. Plugged it in this year and it is DOA. Efforts to contact the Lakewood Company via email results in ODBC Drivers error ...

This heater is noisy

by   renardfranse ,  Oct 26, 2005
Pros: Ergonomically Attractive
Cons: Noisiest heater I have ever owned.
Review: Bought this heater from mail order and arrived a few days later no shipping damage to packaging. Unpacked and set up in minutes. Nice ergonomics. However compared to other baseboard heaters I own there are several disadvantages. The thermostat is ...
