Love the movie! Soundtrack... well...

This is one of my favorite movies, even though the stars rarely mention it when they are interviewed. It has a great cast - Rutger Hauer, Michelle Pfieffer, Matthew Broderick, Leo McKern - what more could you ask for?

The story is wonderful, something for everyone. Love, hate, battles, escapes, heartbreaking romance... sigh. I have to go fire up the VCR now!

The story follows the adventures of Mouse, played by Broderick, an adventuresome rascal who gets into more trouble than he can handle. He finally finds some meaning and purpose when he runs into the star-crossed (and species-crossed) lovers played by Hauer and Pfieffer.

I have 2 quibbles with the movie. One is the soundtrack. I don't know who did the music for this movie, but he or she needs their head examined. The music is glaringly out of place - a rock-flavored base for a delicate story that takes place sometime in the middle ages. Every time I watch the movie, it leaps out at me as being so flat out wrong for this picture. Makes me crazy!

The other thing that bothers me is the armor the soldiers wear. Very out of place and not fitting with the time period. However, that can be over looked. The music - well, that's what we have mute buttons for.

Don't let this turn you off - see the movie! It will make you smile.
