Author's Review
The soundtrack to this movie was great! The Los Lobos did a good recreation of the classics- "La Bamba", "Come On Lets' Go" and "Donna" Good tribute to the real Valens, who died so young.
The other tracks were a variety. My favorites were "Crying, Waiting, Hoping" by Marshall Crenshaw, "Summertime Blues' by Brian Setzer, and "Who Do You Love" by Bo Diddley.
The one by Marshall Crensshaw was when he was portraying Buddy Holly in this movie-looked and acted a lot like the real one. I think I like this version as much as the original 1959 one by Holly.
"Summertime Blues" was done by the great Brian Setzer of course. This was a remake of the original one by Eddie Cochran, who died a year after Valens...also his best friend. I actually think this is more powerful of a version than the original 1958 version by Cochran. But, Setzer does a wonderful job portraying Cochran.
I especially loved "Who Do You Love"! Kind of song that you play after you have been pumping iron all day, don't shave and put on a leather jacket:) Good, powerful version, and he even did a better job than when he originally did it forty years ago. But, that's just opinion.
That's as much detail as I can give you. I am not a music major, with the ability to tell you "It's in G Chord",etc. Go ahead and buy the CD, rent it from the library or download it off Napster...if it's not been shut down yet!
