Product Review

Buyer Beware - Keypad malfunctions & Cust. Serv. doesn't care.

by   jonepone ,   Oct 13, 2008

Pros:  Oven and range worked great when keypad worked.

Cons:  Without a keypad, it's $850 worth of junk! Customer Service doesn't care!

The Bottom Line:  This CIRCUIT BOARD/KEYPAD MALFUNCTION should have been acknowledged as SERIOUS by customer service and be covered under the warranty.  LG DOESN'T CARE SO WHY SHOULD ANYONE PURCHASE LG?

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

The keypad doesn't work on my LG LRE30451SW Electric Range! I called Customer Service and the manager told me he won't talk to me anymore because he couldn't give a good response to my questions - I was getting dizzy from all the round-about answers. The keypad problem started slowly with only one key working intermittently. (Had I known the problem was going to grow, I would have called ASAP! and not have this warranty issue.) LG mgr. said they had no service bulletins about ANY problems even though he said it's an option for problems to be reported by technicians. WHATEVER THE REASON FOR THE MALFUNCTION, THE KEYPAD IS THE BRAINS AND I DID NOTHING TO HARM IT. I believe something so essential should be covered under the 4-year section of the warranty (purchased Aug. 06). I will continue my quest for fairness. I will write to LG US and explain the bad customer service experience and their interpretation of what a really bad problem is with their product. I asked the company that is servicing the range to let me know if he/she can diagnose the problem causing the circuit board to go bad over such a short amount of time. I will assure that the technician reports the problem to LG. I will call LG myself as soon as the smallest incident happens to my keypad or any other part of the range. I will report back the outcome, but for now, since their customer service and warranty are SO bad, BUYER BEWARE!
