Life's NOT SO Good
Date of Review: Jul 29, 2009
My unit was manufactured December 2005. It carries a 5 year warranty. It is now 7-2009 which means the unit is still under warranty till 12-2010. I have lost my receipt and cannot prove when I purchased the unit. I understand that LG needs it to verify warranty. I understand that this could come into play if the unit could not be verified for warranty but LG IS TELLING ME THEY KNOW THE UNIT IS UNDER WARRANTY but they DON'T HAVE TO HONOR IT since I don't have the receipt. This, EVEN AFTER THEY REPAIRED IT PREVIOUSLY UNDER WARRANTY JUST 6 MONTHS AGO. Oh my god. I spent over $700 for this unit and you'd think that a large company like LG could be a lot more responsive to customer’s needs. And just think about it - this unit was purchased from Home Depot. Do you know what a 2 year old cash register receipt looks like after 6 months, let alone 2 years? You can’t read it even if you have it. They fade into oblivion. Oh well, my lesson learned. The lesson is called a “stupid tax” when you do something like this that costs you money. I lost the receipt. Today both LG and I paid the stupid tax. I lost out on a $700 A/C unit and LG lost a customer, for life. Life’s not so good. You can bet I will be very vocal about my experience too. It's just sad that in today's economy companies have to work this way.
