Doing Laundry is a Joy

We bought our LG SteamWasher with the matching Dryer last November - 2006. We were moving to a brand new house so we had to replace all of our appliances. After learning our lesson with the previous washer/dryer pair, we did a bunch of research and read extensive reviews on front loaders specifically the LG's, Whirpool and Kenmore Brands. The LG's got rave reviews from customers and industry reports.
Each one of the brands had their "faults". We just had to determine which brand had more and which "faults" we could live with.
So we went with the LG's. We were particularly fond of the SteamWash and delayed wash time features.
The common thread & "fault" in most of the reviews I read about the LG's was the extremely strong spin cycle that has the potential to shake windows if the unit is located in an upper level laundry. This has been true in our case. At first we were a little shocked but after living with it for a few months we got used to it. Eight months later we barely even notice the machine is on and the performance of the machine far outweighs this issue - for us anyway. We also haven't taken the time to try alternate solutions to decrease the vibration like a heavy duty rubber mat.

In regards to the smell, we have not once experienced this problem. We have taken the advice of some reviewers to leave the washer door open after each load and occasionally give the rubber seal a wipe down to prevent any build-up. The inside of the washer is just as sparkling clean as the day it was installed. We have a two year-old and a dog and I have not had a problem with dog hair or stubborn stains. However, that being said, our dog doesn't shed all that much. It might be a different story with a long haired pet that constantly sheds.

When I read reviews saying the cleanliness of the clothes was unbelievable I wondered how much cleaner could an old t-shirt get? Well now I know, older clothes especially white's & off-whites come out almost looking brand new. You really have to see it to believe it.

Now since these are new for LG there are bound to be some hiccups in the quality of some units and unfortunately probably some "lemons" among the masses much like there are for every product. But in my opinion the majority rules on this machine. There's a reason the average rating is high. Doing laundry is a piece of cake and I never have to worry about washing my quilts or duvet's because there's a setting for bulky loads or delicates. You can truly customise to whatever you're preference.
The Dryer is fantastic as well. No vibration, drys the clothes quickly and takes out the wrinkles even after clothes have been sitting for few days! Unbelievable! I only get out the iron for my cotton blouses.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd buy the same machine.
