Author's Review
WOW - we replaced a very old Whirlpool with this model in Stainless steel. The unit is ultra quiet we can watch TV in the kitchen again (not that we do, but we could!)
The things that attracted me to the LG was price, stainless tub and door, built in disposal, cycles for pot scrub, normal, and delicate, hidden controls, and a child lock.
On the serious side (we do have two cats so the child lock helps avoid a situation like the review posted originally) this unit cleans well. We were down to practically hand washing our dishes and using the washer as a sanitizer before Christmas - so thank you SANTA - we got this LG and a GE compactor at the same time - both in Stainless Steel with similar design.
The unit is very quite, and my only issue is with big fingers it's a little hard to use the hidden control panel - guess I just need to read the directions as my wife has no problems with it at all.
It cleans everything very well, and unlike one of the other reviewers, we have not used any rinse agents and our glasses come out spot free. We use city water with no softener, but we do have a 200 gallon tank so the water sits for a while before it comes into the house (settles the minerals to the bottom?)
The Stainless Steel is care free - we haven't had to wipe of finger prints yet, and that's amazing considering we have a 4 and 6 year old who put their own dishes in and take their own out - lot's of peanut butter fingers!
