Average Quality

Drive is of good quality and only average speed.  Only thing outstanding is DVD burn quality at slower (8-12x) speeds.

Biggest problem w/ this drive is DVD rip speed.  It is very slow, averaging 30 min/DVD.  Compared w/ my 12 other DVD burners including: Plextor PX-850SA, PBDS DH-16W1S, Sony DRU-840A, DRU-830A, Sony DW-G120A, Samsung, etc. this drive is the slowest.

Specs say it should be very fast, but it isn't IMHO.  For example, Plextor and PBDS drives can rip a DVD in 10 min.  LG drive takes 30 min.  My average DVD burners take 20 min.

I use this drive for burning DVDs since burn quality is excellent.

Buy a Sony DRX-840A.  It costs twice as much as the LG, but is three times the speed.  Well worth it.
