Great dryer, but LP users take note
Date of Review: Mar 26, 2007
The Bottom Line: Great dryer for the money. Be sure you get a matching HE washer to save energy.
We bought this dryer new from the home depot in March 2007.
First thing, it's gas. Huge plus. Dries faster because gas doesn't have to warm up as electric does.
I love the automatic drying modes. Depending on the settings it can come out extra dry or just damp. That's fine for me. If I want extra crispy I can use the manual mode.
The time remaining indicator is nice.
It's quiet! I don't understand where the complaints about noise are coming from. This dryer is quiet as a whisper.
There is nothing I hate except for the fact that LG wants you to pony up more money for the stainless steel one if you want the remote laundry monitor.
One more thing, LP gas users beware. The unit is set for natural gas and LG will not sell you a conversion kit to convert it yourself. The conversion kit consists of the LP gas orifice, instructions and the LPG label. The kit is available for about $30 online from a few appliance stores but the conversion itself isn't a DIY project. You really should have a professional (gas company, heating contractor or licensed plumber) do the conversion for you. LP Gas explodes, burns and kills. It doesn't mix well with air and is much more dangerous than natural gas. If you don't know what you are doing, don't risk your house and your life to save a few bucks.
We love our dryer to death though. Laundry is much more enjoyable now!
