Great dryer, but LP users take note

by   rjairam ,  Mar 26, 2007
Pros: Quick drying (GAS!) many modes to choose, time remaining indicator, quick drying
Cons: LP gas conversion costs extra and must be done by a pro
The Bottom Line: Great dryer for the money. Be sure you get a matching HE washer to save energy.
Review: We bought this dryer new from the home depot in March 2007. First thing, it's gas. Huge plus. Dries faster because gas doesn't have to warm up as electric does. I love the automatic drying modes. Depending on the settings it can come out ...

Works for me

by   lowellb ,  Dec 15, 2006
Pros: Matches 2277 washer, dries well
Cons: No major ones
The Bottom Line: Only time will tell, but works well for us so far.
Review: I'm probably gonna jinx myself on this. I read the not so glowing reviews on this dryer, but all of the positive reviews of the 2277 washer motivated me to give the dryer a try. Three weeks into ownership, there are no obvious major flaws with the ...

A good match for the 2277 washer.

by   rthomp ,  Feb 4, 2005
Pros: Does what it's supposed to do.
Cons: Price may be a factor for some.
Review: There's not a whole lot to say about dryers. I will say the picture here on the site is incorrect. The DLG5988W has the front-mounted controls (like the 2277HW washer, so they can be stacked. At any rate, it's got 9 cycles and 6 heat settings. I ...

Not too happy

by   highflyer59 ,  Jan 30, 2006
Pros: Controls, ...
Cons: Poor drum bearings, noisy... Does not dry well
Review: I purchased the washer dryer combo 30 days ago. The first thing I noticed was a very hard bang, bang bang when it starts up. The noise goes away after about 10 min. The automatic drying does not get the load dry on the first time. I always have to run it ...

Get the Kenmore

by   korker ,  Aug 20, 2007
Pros: Looks good, does the job when it's working
Cons: Apparent defect and they don't stand behind their products.
The Bottom Line: wouldn't buy again, high price and cheap components
Review: I got the extended warranty for the washer but I passed on the dryer thinking they're a simple machine and I had a number of dryers and never a problem. Well not quite one month after the warranty expired the dryer drum split at the seam. I called LG to ...

Learning the Perils of LG

by   all4chem ,  Nov 9, 2006
Pros: Dries quickly, (might be washer related), lots of features.
Cons: No thorough drying, lot's of squeaking and whumping(very loud), no service so far!
The Bottom Line: Either buy a more expensive one or a couple of cheaper ones, this one is not good.
Review: First off, I'm starting to think the whump, whump, whump on start up is just an LG trait. I read about it before I bought it and expected some noise, after all you are talking about substantial weight you're moving from rest. Anyway, it's the squeaking ...

Save your money!

by   johntrak ,  Oct 28, 2006
Pros: Lights on face easy to read, nice sounding chimes. Light inside dryer drum.
Cons: Dries unevenly, requires several touch up cycles, and cost.
The Bottom Line: Shop Kenmoore and Whirlpool first. You'll save a lot of money for a better appliance. More cost isn't always better.
Review: LG certainly knows how to market. Lots of bells and whistles but how well this dryer works is another story, sorry to say. After checking installation and important items, we were on our way. The controls on this dryer offer many different modes and ...

Propane (LP) Users Beware!

by   lpuser ,  Nov 20, 2006
Pros: Looks great! Unfortunately have yet to run it
Cons: Propane versions cost $$$.
Review: Was very excited to receive it only to find I have to spend an additional $225/- to get it to work with propane. This in spite of stating the propane version prior to purchase. LG is the only company I know that won't supply a conversion kit without a ...

Pass on this one

by   dantanathekidd ,  Oct 3, 2006
Pros: looks great
Cons: doesn't last
Review: nine months after owning this one, it quits drying. I call lg customer service, they ask if we use bounce. I respond yes. LG then proceeds to say that using bounce voids the warranty. I asked where in the owner's manual that was stated, and after ...

Worst dryer ever owned

by   socal-jim ,  Jan 15, 2007
Pros: None
Cons: Poor reliability. Poor performance.
Review: I bought this dryer with the matching washer from Best Buy 13 months ago with an extended warranty. It worked OK for five months before the electronics started failing. After six repair visits, I have had the the main circuit board and sensor replace, ...
