LG DLG5966 Gas Dryer Repairs

We have had the DLG5966 Gas dryer for a little less than a year and the heating element would not switch on.  We checked everything and smelled a SIGNIFICANT amount of the natural gas "odor" outside the dryer vent on the side of our house.  We turned off the gas and call for a dryer repair service.  We called 5 places (we live in Houston, TX - plenty of options...right??).  NOPE....The first 2 repair places laughed and said "good luck finding someone who has LG parts".  The second 2 said they do not service LG.  Finally, we called Sears (where we purchased the LG) and they could send someone out in 5 days.  So, here we sit with no dryer waiting for a repairman to come out.

LG was supposed to be a good brand (according to a large consumer report publication); however, you may want to stick with a more common brand in case you need repairs.
