I was very disappointed with my Krups kettle. I was forced to return it after a couple months. Thank heaven that bed bath and beyond has such a good return policy.

It is very attractive. Black with steel accents. Of course the steel accent on the lid came off within a week ! The cord can be wound around the base for neatness.

It does heat the water quickly. One of the reasons I picked it off the shelf was that it was the 1750 watt heating element. It was the highest at the store. I have become a tea lover and I prefer using an electric kettle. I broke my last one in my move and spent $50 on this one as a little splurge for my new kitchen. (You can spend as little as $20 for a cheap one) The spout can be closed by turning the lid. This helpful and safe feature lets you carry the kettle without fear of sloshing boiling water everywhere. The capacity is 1.7 liters. It is relatively quiet, but not silent. The off switch makes a click noise when it shuts off (Standard every electric kettle I've used). I very much prefer this to the whistle on my stove kettle. I can't stand that alarm, and it is one of the reasons I prefer using an electric kettle.

My biggest problem is the on/off switch. It is beautiful by the way with a lovely deep blue light. BUT IT NEVER WORKED! I believe all electric kettles have a feature that makes them shut off when the water boils. The Krups kettle shut off immediately the first 3-7 times you push the button. It could take 5 to 20 seconds to pop off so of course you have walked to the other side of the kitchen. You have to keep coming back and hitting the button until it finally takes. I kept blaming myself thinking I was doing it wrong, like not locking the spout or something. I can’t explain why I kept it as long as I did. Partly, I think I was tired of going to bedbathbeyond and home depot every five minutes (natural moving hazard).
