Kong: The Multi Tasker!

It's a fetch toy, a treat/meal dispenser, chew item, stress reliever...you name it, this has it all!

Does your dog suffer from separation anxiety? Some of the classic symptoms are destruction of property while you are gone, as well as barks, whines, and other vocalizations. As a trainer/behaviorist, I highly recommend getting a Kong to help alleviate separation anxiety! These can be placed in the crate with an anxious dog, giving him something to occupy his mind while you are gone, lessening destructive behavior and loud vocalizations.

What can you do with a Kong?
1. You can throw it for your dog, and watch it bounce erratically as your dog chases it down!

2. You can fill it with Kong fillers, that come in whip cream like canisters!

MY EXPERIENCE:
Kongs are great for most dogs. The foster puppies who come through love them, as they are fun to chase when bounced. Now that my puppy is all grown up, she enjoys the larger Kongs, filled with peanut butter and a couple of biscuits, or some other delectable concoction I come up with!

If I'm going to be gone longer than usual and my dogs will be crated, I actually fill the Kong the night before and freeze over night in a plastic container. This makes getting to the food and treats all the more work! This means my dogs are kept busy longer!

I also run these toys through my dishwasher regularly to clean and sanitize them. They wash up great!

My dogs are aggressive chewers, so even the black Kong has battle scars. Your dog's Kong needs to be checked regularly for excessive wear and tear, and to be sure large chunks are not missing, which your dog might have swallowed. This can lead to a serious condition requiring emergency surgery. This, of course, is true for most toys/chews on the market.

I do laugh when I through this in the yard. I'll throw it with force downward and outward, and it bounces all over the place! Whey is this funny? Because 3 dogs are jumping all over the place trying to get it!

These are really heavy toys. They are made of pretty thick rubber to stand up to dog bites and chews. Make sure you never throw these in a way that will allow the Kong to hit a person or animal, to avoid injury. Also, make sure not to throw at cars, windows, etc because these are heavy and hard!

These also perform "double duty" and help to clean your dog's teeth and gums. You can even purchase dog tooth paste to place in or around the Kong, for fresher doggie breath!

So if your dog needs something to occupy him mentally and physically, challenge those tongues and teeth with a great new Kong toy!
