Not Impressed... but hanging in there
Date of Review: Jan 30, 2008
The Bottom Line: Not recommended-- try something else
I bought this for the zoom, and for the price. The zoom works as advertised.
However, compared to much cheaper Panasonic and Canon that I had in the past, this one takes alot of blurry pictures. The camera has lots of settings and I have to admit I am learning them little by little, but when you want to snap a quick picture, the "easy" setting just isn't very good.
Another thing I don't like is the "easy share". I prefer to be able to connect to my camera and move files like it was an external drive. Instead Kodak does something else, and it takes much longer. The work around is to remove my memory card and plug it into a reader. Not a big deal, but annoying. If I never had to remove my card, it is less likely to get damaged.
Finally, I feel like I got tricked with the price. It compares well with other cameras with similar zoom, Megapixels, features (panarama is cool), but you aren't comparing apples to apples. When your included CRV3? battery dies, you have to spend some money. If you stick with Kodak brand, it's a $35 battery and a $40 charger. Other cameras in this range come with the genuine brand battery already. If I knew I was going to spend another $75 I would not have bought this one. Instead of the Kodak brand, I ended up buying some knock off batteries and chargers. I got three different kinds of batteries for about $5 each and two chargers for about $10 each. I bought so many because 1 of the batteries stopped working and one of the chargers stopped working.
Overall I'm hanging in there, but if I dont' figure out the blurry pics I'll probably cut my losses and sell this turkey on eBay and try something else.
