Great camera for digital first timer or just fun pictures when traveling

I bought this camera about 3 months ago and it really does a decent job. My first digital camera at age 27 (gasp!). Ive had professional film cameras and really, really enjoy those but decided to join the whole digital era of cameras. I think its great for a first timer, but the quality of pictures INDOORS is not great at all. I recommend this camera for outdoor use only. I tried every setting, even manual, and the indoor pictures were still of poor quality. The outdoor pictures are wonderful though even on a cloudy day. Great,crisp color and quality. I do think a tripod for portrait style pics of people because sometimes it does show fabrics and textures in a strange way if you shake it even slightly even with the "action" setting. I never had a problem with battery life. The Kodak batteries that came with it arent worth a hoot so I bought those lithium type batteries or what not. Basically if you buy the most expensive type batteries out there for this camera, you get a good battery life. Make sure to take batteries out if you dont plan on using your camera for a while. Always a good precaution with any camera. So this is a good camera for first timers or if you have a camera you dont want sand in, or get wet or dropped type thing.
