Not all that I was expecting

This is a unit that is supposed to print, scan, copy and fax.  I don't have a land line, so faxing is out, but for the rest of them:
Printing-this isn't as fast as I was lead to believe.  I don't use it more than 1-2 times a week, so I think the print heads dry out or get plugged, so cleaning happens often.  I do mostly black printing, and for the 'low cost' idea with the ink, it seems I am always replacing cartridges, so it is still costly.  I do like the duplex page feature, but it takes me a while to get it to print correctly.  Maybe is the the source document, maybe it is the printer, but it isn't fast and easy.
Scan-I don't know, must be me, but I have not gotten the thing to scan.  Nothing happens, no request from the computer or the printer.  Maybe I didn't install some software that is needed.
Copy-Yes, it does that fine and usually a pretty good copy.  But again, it is using a lot of ink, so I wouldn't want to be making 10 sets of something for presentation.
