Author's Review
My HP 4100C scanner and HP 932c Printer were both on their last legs, so I was excited to pick this model up. I have had it for 3 weeks now, and it has not disappointed.
Scans are wonderful quality, you can scan several prints at a time, and you don't have to align them carefully on the scanner bed, the software automatically straightens them.
Printing a 4x6 is so easy with the built-in photo tray - you can print just one, or many, no cutting them out of the 8 1/2 x 11 paper, no waiting for ink to dry. From the time I hit print, it's about 20-30 seconds before a beautiful print is finished, completely dry from the get-go. Spot-on color, sharp, crisp details, and the 4x6 paper is very similar to real photo paper. They even have a "studio gloss" paper that is a very similar finish to professional Kodak Endura paper. I think my days of uploading and ordering prints from Kodak Gallery are over. With the Gallery, I have found the results are hit-and-miss, sometimes the colors are a little blah.
When you print on 8 1/2 x 11 photo paper, this printer can print edge-to-edge - again, no cropping needed unless putting it into a 8x10 frame and it only takes about 30 seconds to print.
I don't think I'll be printing directly from the memory card - I would always download them to my computer for future use anyway and I do find that on any LCD screen (camera, printer) sometimes pictures look different than they do on the computer screen.
Copies onto regular office paper are fast and efficient. When I print off the internet or emails, I put the print quality on draft and the pages print very quickly - much moreso than with my old HP.
I do have a few of the prints displayed in a sunny room, I want to see if they are as fade-proof as Kodak's claims. But so far, so good...I love my new AiO!
