After looking long and hard, this WAS the best.
Pros:
Style, Quality, Quietness, Features
Cons:
Price
The Bottom Line:
KitchenAid is truly a top name brand, along the lines with Viking, Dacor and others... as such the price is also high, but worth every dollar.

We are building a dream house, with the dream kitchen. Looking at many different dishwashers, we were looking at price up to $1500, and quality, style, and quiet operation as the 3 most important features.
All of the above items were present in this model (we got the S series), but in addition to all of this, there was a very large interior space, well laid out, with a hight adjustable top rack (great feature). There was also top quality baskets inside that felt more rugged than in other models.
The only fault of this machine, and it may be due to it's design with all the switches and buttons up top, is a lack of a display panel for quick read out of what cycles are selected. I found only one other machine that had this, but it was more expensive and didn't have the hard food disposer. it was by ASKO.
Coming from a Maytag MD9000 (a good machine in it's own rite), this has not been a disappointment. I recommend this machine for anyone looking to build a luxury kitchen. We selected the Stainless Steel model.
