Excellent Toaster

I just recently purchased a Kitchen Aid KTT570 Toaster. This is the toaster that has 2 long slots that can accommodate up to 4 slices of toast, etc. I purchased this toaster based on the reputation of Kitchen Aid products as well as their styling.

As soon as I took my toaster out of the box, I immediately plugged it in and tested it with different products to see if it would do as well as I expected.

The design of the toaster is very stylish. I purchased the black one to match my major kitchen appliances. The outside of the toaster has a very smooth finish and stays cool to the touch while toasting. The crumb tray is an excellent feature since it eliminates taking the toaster to the trash can and dropping crumbs everywhere. The crumb tray simply pulls out and allows you to leave the toaster there and dump the tray. No mess....awesome! The power cord is very heavy and can be cumbersome to deal with. However, the toaster has a way to wrap any extra cord under the toaster so it is out of the way.

In regards to toasting, the toaster does a good job. Although, I am having to adjust what level I would normally choose on my old "cheap" toaster since the Kitchen Aid toaster seems to be hotter than my old one. I only need to toast bread on level 2, otherwise it would be very brown on a higher level. I have discovered that when you toast something other than bagels, the toaster makes one side more brown than the other. I was under the impression that would only happen if you used the bagel function but it toasted one side darker than the other anyway.

I have tried the frozen function and it performed well. However, once again you would only want to use a level 2 because it will overbrown the food on level 3 or above. It also browned one side more than the other.

The warm feature is extremely nice to have especially in a busy household. Sometimes the food is ready before you are and then when you get there it is cold....not a problem for the Kitchen Aid. All you need to do is press warm and place the item back down....all warm.

I have not tried bagels yet but since I have seen it how it performed on other products, I am confident that it will toast bagels perfectly.

If you place your toaster on the counter under your cabinets, you may want to see how hot the bottom of your wall cabinets get while toasting. This toaster is taller than my old toaster and with the longer slots, it made the bottom of the wall cabinet very warm. I resolved this by pulling the toaster out so that the heat goes up away from the cabinets.
