Spend the money, you won't regret it
Date of Review: Nov 25, 2000
I grew up with a Kitchen Aid, so I know they are built to last - through eight kids and heavy use in our case. I finally got my Metallic Chrome Custom Series Kitchen Aid for Christmas last year and so far it has exceeded my expectations.
WHY A KITCHEN AID
These machines are simply built right, as they have been for decades. The powerful motor has a soft hum. It has masterfully handled every mixture I've ever subjected it to. I've seen other machines that also work well, but not as well as my Mom's still does after 25 years.
THE CUSTOM SERIES
There are several reasons I chose this model. The main advantages of the custom series are that the 300-watt mixer comes in either of two very nice metallic colors and includes a pouring shield and a second bowl.
THE COLOR
Hey, if I was going to spend this much money for something that was going to sit on my countertop for a very long time, I was going to get the color I wanted. The metallic chrome looks great and washes up beautifully. (The sister model, the black chrome, is actually the one pictured.)
THE POURING SHIELD
This is a must. For both wet and dry ingredients, the pouring shield works wonderfully. And it now comes in two pieces so it is easy to take on and off the machine.
THE SECOND BOWL
The extra, smaller 3-quart bowl is very convenient. I use it often. For example, when I'm making a cake, I'll mix the cake in the big bowl and then make the frosting in the smaller one.
Kitchen Aid makes *the best* stand mixers. I love my Metallic Chrome Custom Series Kitchen Aid and look forward to using it for the next few decades. Go Kitchen Aid - for the way it's made!
