Fire Hazard

This microwave has been nothing but trouble. The first one we purchased and installed had to be exchanged because the magnetron tube was malfunctioning. When in use we would have a constant static sound (which is a common complaint of owners of this model). About 9 months later it caught on fire while melting chocolate. Kitchenaid sent out a service technician. He said this was a common problem with this model of microwave, and "if it happens once, it will happen again." We do not qualify for a replacement under Kitchenaids warranty because the defective part is replaceable. Which leaves me to wonder, how many more times is this going to happen before Kitchenaid recalls this model and what if in the future the damage is not limited to just the microwave, our kitchen or house for example. The representative in Kitchenaid's safety department even stated this was a common occurrence with this model and that they do not plan on doing anything to correct it. In the time we have waited for our replacement parts to be ordered, our warranty has expired, so if it happens again we are left with a $600 fireworks show in our kitchen.
