Isn't it time you upgraded to a Kitchen Aid?
Date of Review: Feb 5, 2000
When my parents purchased their first Kitchen Aid mixer over 10 years ago, we were all impressed with it's power and performance. It has the power to quickly knead heavy bread dough and whip up the fluffiest egg whites with ease. Instead of chopping nuts before adding to a mix, simply shell and toss them in; let the mixer do the rest. It's ability to save time is a blessing for the busy baker.
When I started my own home, I tried to do without a Kitchen Aid but quickly found I had to have one. If you've only been using the smaller Black & Decker or Sunbeam mixers, you will never go back after using a Kitchen Aid. The design of the mixer's bowl quickly incorporates ingredients with almost no stirring by the operator. It has a heavy base and will not tip over. It has a very sleek, classic design and comes in the latest decorator colors.
Because of it's power it does require a heavy base. This does make storing it in a cabinet difficult. However, if you use it often one solution is to simply leave it out. The design of the bowl, while making incorporating ingredients quicker, does make adding them more difficult. The plastic splash guard is necessary at all but the lowest speeds. The price does make this more of an investment than a convenience purchase. But if you do more than an average amount of baking, the performance does outweigh the cost.
